New York Knicks: 2019 NBA Draft grades
Overall
The 2019 NBA Draft was a strong one for the Knicks. While they didn’t partake in any of the big trades involving first round picks, New York improved its roster on Thursday night.
Barrett has the looks of a star. If free agency doesn’t go as they had hoped, the organization will still be happy knowing it has another foundational piece in place in Barrett that could attract high-level talent to join him in the future. In addition, the Knicks landed a second round pick that could help them right away.
Floor-spacing is imperative in the NBA, and there wasn’t anyone better at it than Brazdeikis last season in college basketball. You will also notice that R.J. Barrett is on that list as well. David Fizdale’s offense will improve immediately with these two players.
Thursday was an excellent night for the orange and blue. Draft night has been rough in recent years with boos raining down whenever the selection was made. This year, that was not the case, as Barrett was cheered when his name was announced.
Hopefully, Barrett and Brazdeikis can garner more of those cheers when the regular season starts. It is going to be fun watching them and the other young Knicks players take the court in Las Vegas for NBA Summer League.
