Denver Nuggets

Bol Bol (No. 44)

The Denver Nuggets failed to draft in the first round after last summer’s salary dump of Kenneth Faried forced their pick into the hands of the Brooklyn Nets. In making up for lost times, they made sure to make a splash in acquiring Bol Bol from the Miami Heat with pick No. 44.

At one point expected to be a top selection, Bol has tremendous upside as another example of the versatile big men that continue to roam across the NBA. Before suffering a foot injury after just nine collegiate games, he put up 21.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.

The son of Manute Bol flashed an outside jumper in canning over half of his 25 attempts from beyond the arc. Concerns about his fail frame and mental makeup had Bol fall as far as he did after most had him landing somewhere late in the first round.

Denver is no stranger to taking risks, having selected Michael Porter Jr. last year after a number of teams passed on the injured forward. With depth across the board, the Nuggets can bring their latest project along slowly without much riding on his success.

Should the 7’2” big man bring anything to the table, it will only help Denver in its continuous rise up the NBA relevancy ladder.
