The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Darius Garland with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Here are three reasons this was a good decision.

It might not be what fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers were expecting, but the franchise decided to go with Darius Garland as their selection with the No. 5 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The sharpshooter from Vanderbilt played in only five games last year, but it was enough to earn him his spot in the top five.

The Cavaliers made this decision with the hopes that Garland will be able to help their rebuilding process. After falling quickly from their four straight NBA Finals appearances, the Cavs snapped back to reality by finishing with a 19-63 record this season.

It goes without saying that this draft was an important one. In total, the Cavaliers made three picks in the first round. Garland was selected at No. 5 with Dylan Windler and Kevin Porter Jr. going No. 26 and 30, respectively.

Today, we will focus solely on Garland. Let’s take a look at three reasons why this was the right pick for the Cavaliers.
