No. 26 pick: Dylan Windler (Belmont)

The Cavaliers once again selected a sharpshooter with the 26th pick, deciding on Dylan Windler from Belmont. The four-year wing had a fantastic junior and senior year, proving he has NBA-level potential.

As a senior, Windler averaged 21.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. His 6’8″ frame allowed him to shoot over smaller opponents and rebound at a high level. Furthermore, he did a great job of stretching the floor offensively, shooting 42.9 percent on 7.0 attempts per game from the 3-point line.

Overall, Windler is a player with a pure jump shot that demands attention from the defense. His only downfall might be his lack of athleticism. He isn’t going to shock anyone with lightning-quick speed or explosive jumping ability, but pay close attention to his crafty positioning and footwork to see how he still manages to impact the game.

Windler provides some versatility to the Cavaliers’ offense. He is capable of playing the guard or forward position and is a capable defender. Whether he earns a starting spot or becomes a spark plug off the bench, it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which this pick backfires on the Cavaliers.

Grade: B+
