3. Klay Thompson breaks the single-game 3-point record

Stephen Curry is without a doubt the greatest 3-point shooter of all time. His ability to shoot off the dribble is unlike anyone before and likely after him, while he’s currently on pace to shatter the all-time 3-point record.

Yet for as revolutionary as Steph’s been since entering the league, there’s a unique distinction between him and Klay Thompson, the latter of which can go on the hottest of shooting streaks at any given moment.

Consider his history. Over the course of his career, Thompson’s set the record for the most points in a single quarter with 37. He once scored 60 points in less than 30 minutes of action, having taken exactly 11 dribbles to do so. On Oct. 29, the sniper added to his list of accomplishments in rewriting the record books once again.

Not only did Klay score a season-high 52 points in a 149-124 win over the Chicago Bulls, and not only did he shoot an efficient 18-of-29 from the field, but he continued to push the barriers on 3-point greatness, knocking down 14 of his 24 attempts from downtown — an NBA single-game record previously held by his fellow Splash Brother.

Another interesting note to this performance was that it came in just 26 minutes of play. He had one 3-pointer for nearly every two minutes on the court, none of which came in the fourth quarter.

Thompson had started the regular season out slow, having converted on only five of his 36 looks from downtown over Golden State’s first seven games. At the United Center, he broke out of his slump in a big way and once again showed off the Warriors’ embarrassment of riches with a shooting display never before seen.
