Lonzo Ball

Before you snicker, yes, I know that Lonzo Ball is part of the package the Los Angeles Lakers are sending to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis. We just don’t know yet what the Pelicans front office, led by David Griffin, will do with that roster, including the fourth overall pick. While the talk of sending Ball to Chicago has died down, there are still a lot of moving parts in play this summer.

Playing alongside LeBron James, Ball wasn’t able to fully showcase his skills as a passer. He still struggles with his shot, shooting just 32.9 percent from 3-point land, but with the basketball in his hands, and freed from James’ shadow, his talents should be on full display.

If the Bulls were to swing a draft-day trade with New Orleans, Ball would be an immediate upgrade over Dunn. Simply put, the fit is just better. Ball doesn’t need to score to be effective, and the Bulls have scorers who need a point guard who can get them the ball effectively.

At this point, it seems that the Pelicans are salivating at the idea of a Lonzo-Zion combination, but if Lonzo Ball is still available, the Chicago Bulls should pounce.
