D’Angelo Russell

While the Chicago Bulls might not be the free agency destination that fans wished they’d be, they should be targeting some of the upper echelon free agents. The Bulls aren’t in play for the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant, but an intriguing target that might be the best fit for this squad is Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell.

The Nets were a surprise team in 2018-19, and to a degree, so was Russell. He enjoyed a breakout year, averaging 21.1 points and 7.0 assists per game while shooting 36.9 percent from long range and earning an All-Star selection.

Of all the realistic options for the Bulls, Russell would present the biggest upgrade for the team over Kris Dunn. He’s a dynamic scorer, unafraid of the brightest lights and his age fits with their young core.

With Kyrie Irving seemingly on his way to Brooklyn, Russell will most likely be a hot commodity in free agency. The Bulls should strike quickly and show their fans that they are serious about making the team a playoff contender sooner, not later.
