Brooklyn Nets: 3 potential 2019 NBA Draft trades
The Brooklyn Nets own the 27th and 31st picks in the 2019 NBA Draft. Here are three trades options for them to explore on draft night.
The Brooklyn Nets have already shipped the No. 17 selection in the 2019 NBA Draft to the Atlanta Hawks in an effort to clear cap space and add Taurean Prince, but they still possess picks at Nos. 27 and 31.
This gives the Nets a lot of flexibility to move up, trade down or even flip one of these picks for an established veteran. With upwards of $67.5 million available in cap space, Brooklyn is facing a pivotal offseason and will want to keep all options open on draft night.
The Nets are most likely looking to sign a max free agent or two this offseason and will want to add at least one instant impact player on Thursday night.
This is why trading up or moving one of their picks for a veteran makes a lot of sense. With the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers owning picks 23-25 and all looking for instant impact rookies, Brooklyn may need to leap up a few spots to grab its guy.
The Nets also could be in the market to trade down and acquire a future pick since they already lost a 2020 first-rounder to the Hawks in the Taurean Prince-Allen Crabbe swap.
Sean Marks has made a few draft-day trades in his time as the Brooklyn Nets’ general manager, namely acquiring D’Angelo Russell, Caris LeVert and Isaiah Whitehead. He also stated earlier in the offseason that he was open to moving around during the draft:
The 2019 NBA Draft could see him make another draft-day deal. Here are three options he should consider.
