While many 2019 NBA free agents may be looking to re-up with their current teams, a number of others should look to sign elsewhere.

The NBA of today is all about mobility. It’s the athletes who now get to control their own destinies with more players switching teams than ever and a handful of others taking it upon themselves to foster trades elsewhere.

After a thrilling and entertaining 2018-19 regular season, the NBA is set to enter its second season on June 30 when contracts expire and the free agency period begins. It’s a frantic time for just about every team, all of whom are looking to make improvements to their roster — some large, and others less so.

From the player’s perspective, those who enter the free agency pool have some tough decisions to make. Their current squads will almost surely offer them a longer and more lucrative contract, but the allure of other promises may be too enticing to pass up from another organization.

No matter how unlikely a scenario it may be, each free agent has an ideal fit with a specific team. For a select few, it would be in their best interests — whether due to money or team structure — to remain put with their current franchises.

Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with an ideal set of circumstances. There is sure to be plenty of movement over the coming weeks. If these five players were smart, they’d make it their top priority to be among that swarm for the betterment of what little time they have left in the pros.
