The Blazers need more shooting on their roster, and Cameron Johnson fills that need. Coming out of UNC, Johnson is arguably the best 3-point shooter in the 2019 NBA Draft class. He is also one of the older and more experienced players, and should be able to play right away.
In his final season in college, Johnson averaged 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the 3-point line. His height and quick release on his shot will make him a tough cover in catch-and-shoot situations and coming off screens.
He could play both small forward and power forward and would provide excellent floor-spacing. Johnson is the type of player who knows his role on both ends and won’t try to do too much. He is a team-first player and franchises need guys like him in their locker rooms.
The Blazers’ offense would be a perfect fit for Johnson. He won’t be asked to do a ton, and they need bigger, mobile guys that can run around, make smart plays and knock down open looks from deep. Him being on the floor opens up the offense, and he would thrive playing with guys like Lillard, McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic.
