3. Luguentz Dort (G): Arizona State

Luguentz Dort is one of the most athletic players in the entire 2019 NBA Draft. Just 20 years old, he is a one-and-done player out of Arizona State. In his lone season, he was one of the Pac-12’s best players earning All-Pac-12 Second Team, Pac-12 All-Defense Team, Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, as well as Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

Dort has the potential to be one of the premier defenders in the NBA in a few years. He has every tool needed to guard many different positions and be an extremely versatile defender.  At 6’4″, 215lb and a 6’9″ wingspan, he has the ability to defend guards on the perimeter as well as forwards in the paint.

In his only college season, Dort produced 16.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. While he wasn’t the best 3-point shooter at only 30.7 percent, he did not lack the confidence to fire away. He attempted 5.2 shots from deep per contest.

Luguentz Dort needs to polish his offensive game and work on his shot, which shouldn’t be a problem. His mechanics look fine on his form, it will just be a matter of putting in the time to improve.  Dort got to the free throw line whenever he wanted, attempting the second most free throws in SEC with 145 last season. He is excellent at bullying his way to the rim and drawing fouls.

If he can work more on his offensive game and translate his excellent college defense to the NBA level, Dort could be a second round pick who can play immediately next season.
