3. Jeff Green

Jeff Green spent the first three and a half NBA seasons with the Thunder organization (his first year came in Seattle) and would fit well returning back to his roots.

Outside of Paul Georgem the Thunder lack a big wing who can play either forward position and shoot a respectable clip from 3. Jeff Green checks those boxes at 6’9″, 235 pounds and coming off a season with the Washington Wizards where he shot 34.7 percent from the 3-point line.

The Thunder would have the ability to play smaller lineups with Green at power forward and Jerami Grant at center, surrounding Westbrook with shooting and allowing the team to be incredibly versatile defensively.

The homecoming aspect of Green signing with the Thunder also provides an interesting “full circle” moment: Sam Presti traded Green away in a trade deadline deal to bring in Kendrick Perkins because the team lacked a traditional center to compete with the likes of Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. Now, the Thunder would be looking to bring Green back to get away from playing a traditional center as often.

Green’s last two contracts — with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards — have both been for the veteran’s minimum, making this possible deal even more palatable for the Thunder.
