2. Dylan Windler

Dylan Windler is another prospect the Brooklyn Nets have worked out and is a natural fit on two different levels. On one hand, if the Nets age looking to add Kyrie Irving or another max free agent, they will want an immediate contributor with this pick. Windler’s high level shooting ability would allow him to give positive minutes from day one, like recent late first round selections Landry Shamet and Kevin Huerter.

On the other hand, Windler projects to be a great long-term replacement in Brooklyn for Joe Harris, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020. Like Harris, Windler is a sweet-shooting swingman with plus size. The former Belmont Bruin hit 3.0 tripes per game in 2018-19 and led his conference in 3-point field percentage with a 42.9 percent clip.

However, Windler is so much more than a shooting specialist; he averaged 10.8 rebounds per game and theoretically could follow in Jared Dudley’s footsteps by giving the Nets minutes as a small-ball 4. His play during the NCAA Tournament earned high praise as he showed off his ability to score from any spot on the floor, exploding for 35 points in an opening round loss to Maryland.

Jay Bills even made this lofty comparison:

Comparing Windler to a former All-Star shows just how high his ceiling can be with the proper development. Windler makes so much sense for the Nets both as a floor-spacer in 2019 off the bench and potential replacement for Joe Harris in 2020 and beyond.
