1. Bring in a third cornerstone piece to group with Mitchell and Gobert

The No. 1 thing that the Jazz should focus on this summer is adding a player that can serve as a third option in the rotation.

Adding a third piece to go alongside Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert would certainly help Utah go from a team that just reaches the postseason — which it has done three straight times heading into 2019-20 — to a team that could actually make a run in the playoffs.

A trend that we have seen with many successful teams in the past and teams that have won championships is that they’ve usually had a nice Big 3 to build around.

From the LeBron James-led Miami Heat a handful of seasons ago to the Golden State Warriors of today’s NBA, many of those successful teams that have been the last team standing have had a solid trio on their respective teams.

Whether that third piece consists of the likes of Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley or Philadelphia 76ers wing Tobias Harris — as mentioned before — or another player, it would be important for the current and future state of the franchise if it were able to acquire another quality piece to the rotation.

Not only would an addition of another piece help Utah more than having Rubio on the roster, but it could help the Jazz stick with some of the top-tier teams throughout the NBA and might even help them take the next step in being able to advance beyond the first or second round of the postseason.

Next. Post-combine 2019 NBA Mock Draft. dark

The Jazz already have a solid foundation established that they can focus on building on throughout the offseason. One way they can take that next step ahead of the 2019-20 campaign would be to go out and grab a player that they could form a Big 3 with moving forward.
