2. Aquire a high-profile name during the offseason

The second thing that should be on the Jazz’s summer to-do list is acquiring at least one of the higher-profile players they’ve been circling according to the rumor mill.

With the recent rumors surrounding Ricky Rubio and him reportedly not being viewed as a priority this offseason, that opens the door for the Jazz to go out big-game hunting in the free agency and trade markets.

Point guard and the wing positions are really are two spots that Utah could look to add a player within its rotation for the 2019-20 year and beyond.

When it comes to the point guard position, that spot and the hole that is present is obvious since Rubio appears to be on his way out of Salt Lake City.

One name that the Jazz could look at to bring in for the upcoming season would be Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley, who the team has been rumored to be interested in for quite some time now, including during the season and around the trade deadline.

With Memphis likely going the route of selecting Ja Morant in the upcoming draft, that would likely spell the end of Conley’s time with the Grizzlies and the organization could look for trade partners to move the veteran floor general.

Although Utah doesn’t have a ton that it would be able to send back to Memphis in a trade package outside of future draft picks, the fact that Conley has a larger contract that the Grizzlies are looking to shed themselves from would allow the Jazz to be able to acquire the point guard for maybe less than normally required for a player of Conley’s caliber.

If Utah looks to add to its team at a position other than point guard, it should address its wing depth by finding someone that could help give a boost to the starting rotation.

One player at that position that the Jazz are rumored to be interested in is Philadelphia 76ers wing Tobias Harris — if he hit tests the open market in free agency, that is. Adding a player of his caliber to the starting five would certainly aide the Jazz moving forward.

There are numerous possibilities and routes that Utah could venture down this offseason, but going out and acquiring a higher-profile player should be near the top of that to-do list.
