5. Ian Mahinmi

Ian Mahinmi might have had the worst contract on the entire Washington Wizards roster. Owed roughly $15.5 million next season, he has put up nowhere near that amount of production in his career. In his 11-year NBA career, Mahinmi has career averages of 5.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game.

Although Mahinmi has an extremely over-priced contract, it is the final year of his deal, making it a very large, expiring contract. For teams looking to free up cap space for the summer of 2020, his deal could be very attractive.

Mahinmi’s salary next season will be the fourth-highest on the entire Washington roster. Last season, he appeared in only 34 games while averaging just 14.6 minutes per game. Mahinmi was a non-factor for the team and couldn’t even get minutes with starting center Dwight Howard missing the majority of the season. In fact, 21-year-old Thomas Bryant took over the starting center spot.

At 32 years old, with an extremely uneconomical contract, it is highly unlikely that any teams trade for Ian Mahinmi in hopes of getting a high level of production out of him. As an expiring contract, however, the Wizards may not have trouble getting rid of him this summer.
