2018 NBA Draft: Kevin Knox

As we are now approaching the “too early to tell” territory, it seems impossible to praise or deprecate Kevin Knox and his performances so far.

Yes he did struggle with his shooting, only sinking in a horrifying 37 percent of his shots. And yes he did have the worst box-plus-minus in the entire league, with a BPM of -8.5. But he was the seventh-leading scorer among all rookies and might be looking to bounce back during his second season.

Should have drafted: Kevin Knox/Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has proven to be a great facilitator on offense, a role this Knicks roster certainly seems to be lacking. So this leads us to a bifurcation: Do they make this selection prior to or after the Porzingis trade?

If we assume that the trade would’ve never went through, then a point guard in Shai would be very useful to have for the future. But throw Dennis Smith Jr. to the pot, and the Knicks are left with a massive point guard surplus.

Kevin Knox is a good fit in either of those two scenarios, resulting in him being a great pick no matter what.
