Film Study

Zion may not be the most technically polished player in the 2019 NBA Draft class, but you would be lying to yourself if you said he wasn’t the most dominant.

He has the ability to take over a game while taking 13 shots, much like his college stats indicate.

Throughout his game against North Carolina, we saw Zion be the most assertive player on the court, which is something he was criticized for during his tenure at Duke at times, often deferring to R.J Barrett during pivotal moments in the game.

Throughout the highlight clip, we see Zion demanding the ball in the paint on numerous occasions, but also understanding when he should kick it out to the perimeter for a wide open 3-pointer.

Also, we see his defensive potential in full effect when he intercepts the passing lane and turns it into an easy fast break slam.

The importance of choosing this highlight tape, in particular, is North Carolina runs a pro-style defense and we can see here how Zion’s skills are extremely compatible to the next level.
