Golden State Warriors: 3 reasons they’re more fun without Kevin Durant
2. Restoring the balance of the East and West
Let’s not forget, Durant hasn’t openly come out and announced that he’s re-signing with his current team (unlike another individual pictured above), and he doesn’t have to. This will be yet another and maybe the most important offseason in history to date. Where he and a handful of other stars decide to spend the next few years and possibly their careers can reshape the playing fields in both conferences.
Since as early as last offseason, Durant has been linked to multiple teams, with the New York Knicks being the most imminent destination. If KD concludes that relocating to the East would be in his interest, along with recruiting another star in Kyrie Irving or Jimmy Butler, the Eastern Conference would have gained yet another star — and only second talent-wise in the league behind LeBron James himself.
The East would heavily benefit from this as it gains another serious playoff contender in the Knicks, while also filling the talent gap between both conferences as it currently stands.
