1. Keldon Johnson

Age: 19
Position: Shooting guard/Small Forward
Height: 6’6”/ 6’9.25” wingspan
Weight: 216 pounds
Main selling point: 3 and D upside

If Kentucky freshman, Keldon Johnson is still around when the Blazers are on the clock, he should be an easy selection for them to make. His physical profile, athleticism and potential all-around skill-set would be an excellent addition to this team that needs more help on the wing.

In his one season in college, Johnson averaged 13.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 38.1 percent from the 3-point line. Still a teenager, Johnson plays the game with a ton of effort on both ends of the court and has a strong work ethic to get better, and that is a trait teams want in their younger players. He does not have to be the main guy to make a meaningful impact on the game. A good comparison for him — if he can put it all together — would be a “smaller” Otto Porter Jr.

Johnson will need some time to figure out the NBA game. He needs to finish better around the rim, become a better ball-handler, add some mass to his frame, and become a smarter defender. However, his team-first mentality, willingness to defend and ability to shoot/score the ball could make him a guy that the Blazers see as a potential long-term starter for their organization.

The Blazers could lose Layman or Hood this summer in free agency, so adding Johnson would be an excellent insurance plan for the team, He can play both wing spots and his bigger size for a guard could be a nice pair alongside the smaller Lillard, McCollum or Anfernee Simons.

At this point of the draft, Portland would be very blessed if someone with the talent level and upside of Johnson falls to them.
