10. Danilo Gallinari‘s resurgent season

While not a traditional singular moment, a career year from Danilo Gallinari was one of the best storylines of the season for Los Angeles. A talented forward with a modern-day game, Gallo had all the tools to thrive in today’s NBA. Unfortunately, injuries over the last five seasons kept him from doing so.

This past season was not only his best, but also his healthiest. Gallinari appeared in 68 games, the most he’s had in a single season since way back in 2012-13. He posted career-high marks in points and rebounds, with his second-highest mark in both assists and 3-point percentage as well. All this while playing the third-fewest minutes per game of his decade-long career.

When Tobias Harris was traded, not only did Gallinari continue his excellent level of play, he surpassed it in fewer minutes a night. His playing time decreased from 31.3 minutes per game prior to the trade to just 28.4 after it. Yet his points, rebounds, assists and field goal percentage all saw an increase over the final 24 games of the regular season.

Clippers fans were furious after the team gifted Gallinari with a three-year $65 million contract in the summer of 2017. He didn’t do much to quell concerns during his inaugural season in L.A., appearing in only 21 games.

With his play this past season, Gallo has certainly done his part in flipping that script. He’s become a fan favorite in Los Angeles, a productive multi-faceted forward who played a key role in helping the Clippers to their unexpected postseason appearance.
