Before the start of 2018-19 college basketball season, R.J. Barrett was being mocked as the No. 1 pick on most if not all NBA Draft mocks. The high school basketball star in Canada went on to sign with Duke and had a very successful freshman season where he was named a first-team All-American. At 6’7″, Barrett is bringing in an elite scoring skill to the NBA, as well as the confidence to be the primary ball-handler and focal point on offense.

If Memphis passes on Barrett, the New York Knicks would be stoked to land him with the No. 3 pick. The Knicks need a go-to guy on offense and Barrett can step in and fill that role right away. Not many players would be able to handle what comes with playing in New York and the pressure of being a top pick, but Barrett seems like the type of player who can. Also, his godfather is NBA legend <a rel=. Small Forward. New York Knicks. R.J. Barrett. 3. player. 27

Small Forward/Power Forward. Los Angeles Lakers. De'Andre Hunter. 4. player. 20.
The Los Angeles Lakers jumped up from the No. 11 pick to the No. 4 pick on lottery night and put themselves in a fantastic position to land an impactful player. De’Andre Hunter is 6’8″ and 222 pounds with a 7’2″ wingspan, and he put on quite a showing in the NCAA championship game win for his team. In that game, he put up 27 points, nine rebounds and was 4-of-5 from the 3-point line.

Hunter will be a great defensive player at the next level and should polish up his offensive game over time. He will never be the main guy, and he is probably okay with that. The Lakers could look to go several different routes with this pick, and it would not be a surprise to see them go with Darius Garland or Jarrett Culver. Hunter’s skills could translate right away for the Lakers. As a bigger 3-and-D forward who doesn’t demand the ball and does all the little things when he’s on the court, Hunter would be a good fit next to LeBron James. That is, if the Lakers don’t trade this pick before or during the draft.
