2019 NBA Mock Draft: Post-draft combine edition
By Ty Delbridge
After a crazy draft lottery, the draft combine was held in Chicago last week. Here is the latest 2019 NBA Mock Draft to prepare for June 20.
The 2019 NBA Draft Combine has come and gone. All 30 NBA teams had their scouts in attendance, as well as front office executives and head coaches to get a first or better look at the prospects in this year’s draft class. We saw players participate in drills, 5-on-5 scrimmages, speed, agility, vertical and strength workouts.
Even though the big-name guys like Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, R.J. Barrett and others did not really participate besides in interviews, media sessions and some measurements, it was a chance for guys who are more in the late first round and second round discussion to make a better name for themselves. In the past, we have seen players like Kyle Kuzma and Kevin Huerter secure first round spots after solid showings in Chicago.
We did get some storylines from the combine. Matisse Thybulle and Rui Hachumara were no-shows. Darius Garland left the combine after apparently receiving a promise from a team in the lottery. Luka Samanic, a 6’11″ forward from Croatia, was the most impressive player after he played excellent in a scrimmage and showed flashes of being a difference-maker on both ends of the court. After that, he shut it down with enough first round buzz surrounding his name. He is only 19 years old and has a ton of potential.
Now that the combine is over, teams will start to set private workouts with prospects they want an even better look at. With less than a month until June 20, here it’s time for our second 2019 NBA Mock Draft: post-combine edition.
