2014 NBA Redraft: 24. Glenn Robinson III, Charlotte Hornets
Glenn Robinson III has had a relatively quiet career. Drafted 40th overall by Minnesota, he’s averaged just under 6.0 points per game for his career while suiting up for six teams.
His career pales in comparison to that of his father, former two-time All-Star and a career 20-point scorer Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson, but it’s no coincidence that GRIII continues to stick around the NBA.
In a league that continues to value the kind of wings who can guard multiple positions, Robinson’s 6’6’’ standing with a 6’9’’ wingspan has made him a popular target for teams looking to fill out their bench.
Though the volume of his 3-point attempts has never been particularly high — career 1.7 attempts per game — Robinson’s career efficiency mark of 37.3 has kept defenses honest enough to ensure he’s not a complete liability at the offensive end.
Then there’s the athleticism, which earned him a spot in the 2017 Slam Dunk Contest. Pitted against the likes of Derrick Jones Jr., Aaron Gordon and DeAndre Jordan, Robinson emerged with the trophy in hand.
Robinson was recently waived by the Sacramento Kings, leaving him without a team at the moment. But if a career that’s taken him through more than a fifth of the league is any indication, it won’t be long before another team takes a flier on his 3-and-D skillset.
