Indiana Pacers: 3 ways to build on playoff appearance in 2019-20
3. Make re-signing Bogey a priority
Perhaps the most consistent scorer throughout the year for the Indiana Pacers was Bojan Bogdanovic, and he proved this season in Oladipo’s absence that even at 30 years old, he’s a legitimate scoring wing. He averaged career highs in just about every stat, and was resilient for Indiana all year.
The Pacers have quite a few free agents to consider for the future as they continue to build on this four-year playoff streak. But Bogey is arguably the most important one to consider offering an extension.
Losing Tyreke Evans to suspension means they’ll get back some extra cash for an extension for Bogdanovic, but the rest of the team’s expiring contracts will need some second thoughts. Darren Collison, for example, could be a good re-sign for Indiana, but they could keep an eye on the free agent market and look at other veterans, like Rajon Rondo, to fill the point guard spot.
A guard-forward scoring tandem of Bogey and Oladipo could, if Bogdanovic continues this output, equal the offense they need to make another playoff push.
