2019 NBA Draft Profile: Ja Morant
By David Barr
As a likely top-two pick in the upcoming 2019 NBA Draft, here’s a look at the draft profile for Murray State point guard Ja Morant.
Ja Morant looks to follow in the monumental footsteps left by the likes of Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard as the NBA’s next mid-major diamond.
On a preseason draft board that all but locked in the Duke duo of Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett as the first and second overall picks, respectively, Morant quickly made experts rethink their analysis.
Using his elite scoring and NBA-ready playmaking, Morant climbed up the draft boards with the promise of his abilities. The biggest question of Ja throughout the year was Murray State’s strength of schedule, but the NCAA Tournament dowsed all doubts about how he would be able to handle stronger competition. A rare tourney triple-double and a 12-5 upset over Marquette turned the nation into believers.
Here’s a look at Ja Morant’s 2019 NBA Draft profile, including his strengths, weaknesses, some film breakdown and his overall outlook.
