Boston Celtics: Top 10 moments of the 2018-19 NBA season
3. The late Game 2 comeback win against the Pacers
The Celtics’ matchup against the Indiana Pacers in round one of the playoffs was bound to be a battle of defense. The Pacers hung their hats on that side of the ball all season, and made the Celtics work to win each game. But no win made more of a statement than Game 2 at the TD Garden, where the Celtics battled back from being down as many as 12 points to secure a victory before heading on the road.
Just as he’d done all throughout the regular season, Kyrie continued to torch Indiana, finishing with 37 points, seven assists and six rebounds. The entire Celtics team, though, capitalized on a second half scoring drought from Indiana and eventually took the lead in the fourth quarter.
No sequence was more exciting than the final minute of play. With the Pacers up by two, Bojan Bogdanovic drove to the lane and was stopped in his tracks by Al Horford at the rim. The block led to a corner 3 at the other end by Jayson Tatum, which stole the hearts of the Pacers.
The Celtics recovered from a particularly bad shooting night in Game 1, and took a strong hold on the series with their late-game heroics in Game 2. This win would set the tone for the rest of the series.
