18. Joel Embiid with a driving throwdown past Jonas Valanciunas

On Halloween Eve, Joel Embiid added some flare to a dismal Sixers showing against the Toronto Raptors. He did so with a dynamic post move that promoted widespread terror across the NBA. The 7’2″ center from Cameroon assured (without words) that Jonas Valanciunas wasn’t disrupting this shimmy-shake drive to the rack. And no, Pascal Siakam wanted no parts of the ferocious slam that followed.

Spoiler: Embiid appears multiple times on this list, so be sure to buckle up.

17. Joel Embiid dagger dunk over Boban Marjanovic

If the league were forced to name an MVP through the first nine games of 2018, it would’ve likely been Joel Embiid, who amassed at least 30 points and 10 rebounds six times in those affairs. Then again, the Sixers’ 5-4 start, along with an 0-4 road record at the time, would’ve also been his undoing.

In any case, Embiid capped off a 41-point, 13-rebound night with a thunderous throwdown on the 7’3″ Boban Marjanovic to extend Philly’s lead against the Los Angeles Clippers, eventually sealing the win.

It’s fair to say Marjanovic was delighted to join forces with the All-Star big man later in the season.
