Cleveland Cavaliers: Zion Williamson 2019 NBA Draft profile
By Tony Pesta
Strengths
To keep it simple, Zion Williamson’s greatest strength is, well, his strength.
Standing at 6’7″ and weighing 284 pounds, Zion is a force of nature on the basketball court. Combine his sheer strength with incredible speed and athleticism, and we have a once in a lifetime talent on our hands. Of course, this means that he is an amazing finisher around the rim, shooting 77.1 percent on 144 attempts at the rim for Duke.
While everyone might know Zion for his athletic ability, it is important to note that he is far more than just a big-time dunker. He does a great job of using his size to box out and control the glass, averaging 8.9 rebounds a game in his freshman season.
Perhaps the most underrated aspect of his game is his court vision and passing ability. He isn’t exactly the most elite ball-handler, but Williamson is excellent at taking the ball in transition and finding open teammates. This talent has only been shown in glimpses as he averaged just 2.1 assists per game at Duke, but is something that could definitely be a factor moving forward.
Overall, Williamson’s most impressive attributes are his physical ones, but this doesn’t mean he only has raw talent waiting to be developed at the NBA level.
