Oklahoma City Thunder: 2018-19 player grades for Terrance Ferguson
Weaknesses
Ferguson still can’t create off the dribble. His game is still reliant on getting the right pass from other players. That will come later in his development.
He also was bad from mid-range. From three to 10 feet he shot 20.0 percent. From 10 to 16 feet he only hit on 33.3 percent of his looks. Finally, from 16 feet out to the 3-point line, he shot 25.0 percent.
That area is where shot creators rule. That area is where you see players like LeBron James, Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard back down their opponent and shoot fadeaway jumpers. That ability isn’t in Ferguson’s repertoire yet. It may never be in his arsenal because that skill is a superstar type of ability.
The mid-range game is dying. Teams want players that can shoot the three and that is what the Thunder ask Ferguson to do.
In the fourth quarter was when Ferguson shot the worst from the 3-point line which is bad. He only shot 28.3 percent. He will need to shoot a better percentage.
He should start hitting more clutch shots as he gains more experience. This was really the first year he saw extended playing time.
