The Chicago Bulls acquired Otto Porter Jr. in a midseason trade with the Washington Wizards. Was he all that the team hoped he would be, or did he fail to live up to expectations?

The Chicago Bulls came into the 2018-19 campaign with hopes of competing for a playoff spot. Thanks to injuries to several key players, that dream never came to fruition.

As the Bulls approached the Feb. 7 trade deadline, it appeared that they were not going to make any moves. However, with things not panning out with Jabari Parker, combined with the fact they didn’t want to pay big money for a backup power forward in Bobby Portis, the Bulls sent the two forwards to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Otto Porter Jr.

This was an interesting decision for a couple of reasons. From a financial standpoint, Porter made $26 million this season. That salary cap figure will increase to $27.3 million next season and he has a player option for $28.5 million in 2020-21.

These are staggering numbers for a player who never averaged more than 15 points per game during his five plus seasons with the Wizards. Secondly, with Porter coming to the Bulls in a starting role, the team’s depth took somewhat of a hit as both Parker and Porter were averaging in double figures (coming off the bench) at the time the trade took place.

So, did Porter prove to be a valuable addition to the Bulls’ roster? Here’s a look at how he graded out this season.
