Oklahoma City Thunder: 2018-19 player grades for Paul George
Paul George had a breakout season in 2018-19, but the year could’ve ended better for him and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Here is Paul George’s grade for the season.
Paul George started off the 2018-19 season on fire for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In all 77 games he played this season, he scored in double digits. There was not one game where George didn’t score in double figures.
While PG-13 kept the consistency this season with his ability to play both ways, the team fizzled out by the end of the campaign. While they were able to get things together for decent playoff positioning they did not have success in the postseason, losing in five quick games and going home in the first round for the third straight year.
If you would ask George, he would probably trade some of his individual success for more overall team success, but unfortunately, his struggles with a nagging shoulder injury late in the year played a part in that.
Still, George’s 2.2 steals per game led the league and represented a career high. He also led the league in total steals for the season with 170. He averaged a career-high 28.0 points per game too, which was good for second in the league.
This was Paul George’s best season ever as a pro, and it came after he decided to stay with the OKC Thunder during the offseason and signed a long-term deal with the team. In a year where George established himself as one of the best two-way players in the league, it’s time to grade his season.
