Entering year two of the post-LeBron James rebuild, the Cleveland Cavaliers continue to search for a new coach. Five potential candidates stand above the rest.

Cleveland Cavaliers fans may have spent the last month away from their team. With the 2019 NBA Playoffs in full swing, the league’s heavy-hitters avert their attention away from the regular season’s under-performers.

A heavy-hitter just a year ago, Cleveland aims to return to relevancy. While the the past month was a quiet one for the franchise, the summer will be important in shaping the Cavs’ future.

In between trips to the NBA temple to pray to the lottery gods, general manager Koby Altman and company are interviewing candidates for the head coaching job. Their list is lengthy, featuring a plethora of assistants and former players.

The Cavs find themselves in this predicament after mutually agreeing to part ways with head coach Larry Drew in April.

A coach of Mike Budenholzer or Dwane Casey’s quality is unlikely to go on the market this summer. No problem. The Cavs front office just needs to pinpoint an up-and-coming talent. Here are the best five options for the upcoming season and, hopefully, distant future.
