The Phoenix Suns fanbase had little reason to care about the 2018-19 NBA season long before it ended, but there are a few main takeaways from the campaign that will be important moving forward.

It’s been almost a month since the Phoenix Suns‘ 2018-19 NBA season officially ended, and probably about 3-4 months since fans had any compelling reason to keep tuning in. With the team coming off the second-worst record in franchise history, it’s perfectly reasonable for everyone to want to put this season out of sight and out of mind.

However, heading into yet another “most important offseason in franchise history!!” kind of summer, the Suns can be afforded no such luxury.

James Jones has finally been promoted to full-time general manager, and Jeff Bower will lend a touch of experience as the senior vice president of basketball operations, but this organization still lacks a head coach after hastily firing Igor Kokoskov, still needs veterans to help lead the young talent, and somehow, still requires a starting-caliber point guard.

Bearing that in mind, what did we learn in 2018-19 that will help guide the way for the new front office this summer? What are Phoenix’s most pressing needs in the draft, in free agency and at the help of the team? Who is a part of the core and who isn’t?

To sort it all out and lay out a proper blueprint for the offseason, here are the Phoenix Suns’ five biggest takeaways from the 2018-19 NBA season.
