2. Limiting the turnovers

With an offensive system based on both unselfish ball and man movement, Golden State’s always racked up high assist totals during this nearly five-year championship run. That didn’t change in Game 2, with 24 assists on 42 made field goals.

The shocking number on the stat sheet was the number of turnovers the Warriors registered, just 12 on the night. This was a team that was 21st overall in giveaways per game during the regular season. To take such good care of the basketball in a game of this magnitude was an encouraging sight.

Their crisp and team-first passing create a nearly unstoppable and unpredictable offense. It also at times allows guys to get maybe just a bit too creative and loose with the basketball. Sometimes that’s trying to thread an unnecessary needle, or the rare times when there’s a case of over-passing.

After such a lackluster regular season by their standards, the Dubs appear reinvigorated during this second round matchup with arguably their biggest competitors. That’s meant more energy defensively, but it’s also led to an increased understanding of the value of possessions in the playoffs. Should this trend continue, an already all-time great offense will continue to run more efficiently than it has all year.
