The Detroit Pistons finished the regular season with a 41-41 record before they were swept out of the first round by the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. Their offseason has started, and it’s time to look back at the season they had to see how they got where they did.

In their first season under Dwane Casey, they were 21st in offense and 12th in defense. Those numbers aren’t awful, but they just weren’t good enough.

The Pistons saw a breakout season for Blake Griffin, and many others had years that were above their expectations coming into the season. Moving forward, the key for them will be to continue their development. Young guys like Bruce Brown Jr. and Luke Kennard got better as the year went on, but they need to improve next year for everything to continue on the upward swing.

While some players played well, there were some that failed to live up to expectations that were set out for them. While that wasn’t the only reason, the disappointments are what we’re focusing on today.
