3. Andre Roberson

It’s been 15 months since Andre Roberson has logged minutes in an NBA game. A torn patellar tendon, coupled with multiple setbacks, kept him sidelined for the entire 2018-19 season.

In Roberson’s stead, Thunder coach Billy Donovan elected to start 20-year-old second-year player Terrance Ferguson. While inconsistent at times, Ferguson proved to be a capable wing defender and provided the team with something that Roberson never could: shooting.

Unfortunately for Roberson, his injury opened the door for younger players to step up and grow. Now entering the summer, the Thunder have George, Ferguson, Hamidou Diallo, and Deonte Burton all on the wing, with the combination of Ferguson, Diallo and Burton combining to earn less than half of Roberson’s salary.

Roberson’s questionable knee, long absence from basketball, and well-documented lack of offense most likely makes his trade value non-existent. If the team’s front office can find a franchise to take on the last year of his contract — valued at $10.7 million — it may be time to sever ties with the former Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
