3. No regret in taking Marvin Bagley III

It seemed like the end of humanity when the Kings chose Marvin Bagley III instead of the highly-touted Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA Draft. The experts and keyboard warriors joined forces to declare the Kings as lunatics. As it turned out, the sun still came out the next day. October rolled around, the season tipped off and Bagley started opening eyes.

Sure, the world was still focused on Doncic. His every move was documented on sports shows across America.

But in the California capitol, Bagley was quietly getting it done for the Sacramento Kings. The 19-year-old grew into a regular spark plug, coming off the bench and constantly out-running, out-jumping, and out-muscling opponents with much more experience.

The rookie played in 62 games, averaging 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. It’s safe to say Bagley will soon become a regular starter in the league. The Duke product answered many questions in his first year and showed that he’s on his way to becoming a franchise cornerstone for the Kings.
