3. David Fizdale seems tangled, but the right man for the job

The Knicks finished the season with just 17 wins, tying their worst ever performance in franchise history. Under most circumstances, the team’s head coach would be on the hot seat. But can you really blame Fizdale for this overall record?

Throughout the season, he experimented with countless different lineups, making it really difficult for the squad to find its groove. Then again, that was supposed to be the goal in a tanking season.

It is well known that the 2019 offseason is a make-or-break type of situation for the Knicks. If things go right, they will pick first in the upcoming draft and sign a pair of superstar free agents like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

If luck is not on their side, they will pick outside the top-3 and could possibly strike out during free agency, meaning that they are back at square one.

In both cases, Fizdale would be the right man for the job. He has super-team experience from his Miami Heat days and is known for his expertise in player development. His most recent examples are Emmanuel Mudiay, Noah Vonleh and Allonzo Trier, who all emerged out of nowhere under Fizdale’s influence.
