With the 2018-19 season wrapped up for the New Orleans Pelicans, the franchise will certainly face some difficult decisions moving forward.

There couldn’t have been a more poetic way for the New Orleans Pelicans’ season to end. With fleeing superstar Anthony Davis wearing a “That’s All Folks!” shirt, it all ended as awkwardly as it had started.

The 2017-18 season saw the Pelicans finish two games shy of 50 wins and steamroll their way through the first round of the postseason, sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers in an upset. A hot start and strong play from Davis weren’t enough for New Orleans to be able to break past a .500 record this season, however.

Eventually, an underwhelming year became a disappointing one when the news broke that AD no longer wanted to be part of their future plans and a trade appeared imminent.

New Orleans has already addressed one of its biggest needs moving forward. After moving on from Dell Demps, who had been with the team for almost 10 years, the Pelicans hired David Griffin as their executive vice president of basketball operations shortly after the end of the regular season.

While bringing in a proven front office leader should help set them on the right path to bouncing back from a rocky season, there is still plenty of important decisions to be made by this team moving forward.
