The Oklahoma City Thunder were extremely inconsistent in the 2018-19 NBA season. Let’s dive into what type of team they were this year.
The Oklahoma City Thunder seemed to have all of the dominoes fall into place to end the regular season. They went on a five-game win streak to end the regular season and were matched with the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. Oklahoma City swept the Blazers 4-0 in the regular season.
Paul George returned to OKC in the 2018-19 season after re-signing over the summer, hoping to help this team continue in the right direction. Coming into the season, there were several new faces in the locker room as well, and there was an expectation this would one of the best teams in the Western Conference following a disappointing first round playoff exit the year prior.
Although their season was full of ups and downs, there are several things that were consistent throughout the season, giving Oklahoma City a true identity. Through injuries, roster changes, shooting slumps, MVP-caliber play and triple-doubles, the Thunder won down the stretch when it mattered and earned what we thought was a favorable matchup against the Portland in the first round.
After a disappointing series against the Trail Blazers, the Thunder were eliminated in just five games following more inconsistent play in the playoffs. As we head into the offseason, let’s look into five things we are able to take away from the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2018-19 NBA season.
