6. Paul George hits game-winning shot against the Houston Rockets

The Oklahoma City Thunder were at the bottom of the standings to end the season and the final two games were extremely important to them. Winning these two games would mean they could get the six seed and have an easier route in the playoffs.

The Thunder wanted to avoid playing the Houston Rockets or the Golden State Warriors in the first round and they wanted to avoid both teams until the conference championship. After they won both games they did just that.

Paul George was noticeably intense down the stretch of this game and in the end, his intensity would pay off. The Thunder hung in there tough as they were down by 14 in the fourth but they came all the way back.

James Harden was at the free throw line to put the Rockets up by three points but he missed his second free throw. The speedster Westbrook drove the ball up the court. Westbrook found a flashing George in the corner for the 3-pointer to go ahead and he made it. The Thunder ended up winning the game and saving their season.

According to Cliff Brunt of AP here’s what George said about the shot:

”All I needed was a little space, and it’s not a guy that’s got great lift, so I was able to shoot right over him,” George said.
