7. Westbrook pass Gary Payton to lead the franchise in total points scored

Russell Westbrook is one of the league’s models of consistency. He has averaged a triple-double for three straight years now, he’s made it to the All-Star Game five years in a row and he’s been with the Thunder every year he’s played in the league.

These days it’s hard for a player to stay with one team for their whole career when you factor in things like salary cap, free agency, trades and players’ desire to team up with other superstars to win titles. Westbrook and the Thunder franchise have not let any of these factors stop them from keeping the star point guard on the team.

The way the Brodie has played and his year-in, year-out consistency led to him becoming the franchise’s all-time scoring leader on Feb. 14, when he passed Gary Payton in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

According to Maddie Lee of NewsOK, Westbrook said, “I’m just truly thankful and humbled by the accomplishment” about the honor of passing Payton.
