8. Hamidou Diallo‘s dunk over Shaq in the Slam Dunk Contest

The Slam Dunk Contest is one of those competitive events that has lost its luster. This year’s contest, though, featured a dunk that was never seen before.

The 2019 Dunk Contest was between John Collins, Dennis Smith Jr., Miles Bridges and Thunder rookie Hamidou Diallo. If Diallo won, he would become the Thunder’s first winner since the franchise moved to OKC.

Diallo’s first dunk was a pass off the side of the backboard from Russell Westbrook. His next one was his best dunk that helped him move on to the final round.

Diallo was going to dunk over Shaquille O’ Neal. Before his dunk, he turned to the camera and revealed that he had a Superman shirt underneath his jersey, which was a tribute to Shaq. He then proceeded to clear O’ Neal and put his arm through the rim, Vince Carter-style.

It was a dunk never seen before. Carter had only put his arm in the rim. Diallo dunked over a seven-footer while putting his arm in the rim.

In the finals, Diallo completed his two dunks and they were good enough to get him the trophy.
