It was with great honor that Nick Collison was the first player ever to have his name lifted in the rafters by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Collison spent his all of his 15 seasons with the franchise.

Collison put up 5.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for his career. He also shot 53.4 percent from the field and 72.3 percent from the free throw line. He was known on the court for his mid-range game and for his his charitable work in the OKC community.

According to NBA.com, Thunder chairman Clayton I. Bennett said this about Collison being the first player to have his number retired:

"“I am thrilled that Nick Collison will be the first Thunder player to have their number retired in Oklahoma City, He has cemented himself as part of the fabric of this community and our organization by setting an example of commitment, hard work and authenticity. Congratulations Nick.”"
