5. Blake Griffin outduels Jrue Holiday and the New Orleans Pelicans

It’s just a mid-January game where there isn’t really anything on the line for either team, right? Looking to where the standings settled up, that’s so wrong it’s not even funny.

The Pistons, behind 37 points from Griffin, were able to steal the game away from the Pelicans on the road. After dropping the first game in the season series, this made things square between two teams that rarely meet.

The Pelicans were playing through the Anthony Davis saga, and things weren’t always going right. Jrue Holiday didn’t seem fazed, as he put up 29 points on 14-of-24 shooting. He also was setting up his teammates all night with seven assists. This game finished 98-94, and it was the type of win fans need to get used to with this Pistons core. It might not be pretty or flashy, but they’ll fight to the end.
