7. Detroit punches playoff ticket vs. New York Knicks

After finishing a furious comeback in Game 81 of the season, the Pistons had to finish the job in Game 82. They did just that behind some great offensive performances from Drummond, Jackson and Kennard.

All three finished the game with over 20 points, and they all shot at least 50 percent from the field. Detroit had missed the playoffs for three seasons, but ended that drought once this game was over.

Kennard showed another flash of what he can be when he’s locked in on the night. He shot 8-of-14 on the night, including a 4-of-8 night from 3-point range for a team-high 27 points. The Knicks sat a lot of their stars, but they played a lot of their promising young players as well. Detroit handling them so thoroughly showed that this team is much closer to the top of this conference than the bottom of it.
