Toronto Raptors: 3 takeaways from Game 4 blowout win vs. Magic
2. Firing on all cylinders
Collectively, this was the Toronto Raptors’ most complete game. No member of their top-eight shot less than 33.3 percent from the floor for the first time in this series. Leonard had more than four free throw attempts for first time as well in this series (8-of-9), and even with three of the five starters shooting less than 40 percent from the floor, all were better per 100 possessions than their opponents by double digits.
Their defense was spectacular again, creating 17 turnovers to Orlando’s 14, out-rebounding their opponent 45-34 and finishing with 23 assists on the night. It was plays like this one that truly showed off their chemistry and gave a true depiction of Toronto’s strength in transition:
Fred VanVleet, Norman Powell and Serge Ibaka had their bench breakout game. All three of them have been highly inconsistent this playoff series, but on Sunday they broke out of that funk.
Aside from FVV (+9), each of the other Raptors’ top-eight players were better than +10 on both ends of the floor. Powell and Ibaka combined for 29 points off the bench and were active defensively. Norm outplayed his opposition, Terrence Ross, while Ibaka was his IBLOCKA self, protecting the rim at an elite level and putting back rebounds on the end of the floor.
If the Raptors can consistently perform at this level, there is no questioning their chemistry or capabilities for a deep run in this year’s playoffs.
