Utah Jazz: 3 takeaways from devastating Game 3 loss vs. Rockets
1. This might be the end of the road for Utah
One final takeaway from the Game 3 loss to Houston on Saturday night in Salt Lake City is that things just got a lot harder — no, borderline impossible — for Utah in terms of trying to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.
If the Jazz thought being down 2-0 going into the third game of the series on Saturday night was a lot of pressure, facing elimination heading into Game 4 on Monday will come with even more pressure.
The Game 3 loss bounces Utah into a 3-0 series deficit against a tough Houston team, one that looks like it could very well make it out of the Western Conference and advance to play in the NBA Finals.
History is also against the Jazz when it comes to being down 3-0 in a best-of-seven series. No team in NBA history has ever lost a playoff series after leading 3-0.
It’s also hard to see Utah going on to win four straight games against a team like Houston, especially considering how well the Rockets play on their home court and how they’ve dominated the matchup thus far.
Although not likely, the Jazz will attempt to try and fight off history and complete a comeback for the ages Monday night when they host the Rockets once again in Salt Lake City in Game 4.
It’s officially do-or-die time for Utah, and it appears it might just not have enough to match Houston’s depth and offensive firepower.
