3. Nuggets excel in long-range shooting and transition game

In the first game of this series, the Nuggets couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean from 3-point range. In fact, they connected on just six of their 28 attempts from downtown, which equates to a 21.4 percent conversion rate. Simply put, this was not going to get the job done.

In Game 2 though, it was a much different story as the Nuggets shot 10-for-24 from beyond the arc. Even more important, they limited the Spurs to just 27.8 percent shooting from long range. This was significant because the Spurs shot 46.7 percent from 3-point land in the first game.

Another area where Denver improved was in the transition game. After recording zero fast break points in the series opener, the Nuggets outscored the Spurs 21-6 in this area. Furthermore, they committed just six turnovers, without a single miscue in the final frame, and enjoyed a 15-6 edge in points off turnovers.
